If you own a lot of lights and gear, you can setup lighting that is lower intensity for 6-8 hours of the 12 on part of the flowering cycle. Say you have 6 plants under a 6 bulb t-5 on 12/12. You can use the HPS 400W like this. T-5 on for 4.5 hours... at hour 4 the HPS comes on for 3.5...
