Respect is a word which has not been exhibited by many Utah lawmakers in Legalize Utah's campaign to obtain every Utah lawmakers' personal opinion regarding medical marijuana, however the tide is beginning to turn.
Yesterday, Utah Representative Carl Wimmer (District 52, Party R) admitted he did not feel he was sufficiently educated on the facts about medical marijuana.
He admitted he was uneducated about the facts of medical marijuana and asked for additional information.
Legalize Utah quickly assembled several items, including research, personal testimonials from actual, local and honest medical marijuana patients as well as a detailed survey which the groups' members, their family and friends and even teenages have been competing.
This morning, Representative Wimmer tweeted: "is your goal to legalize MJ period, or simply medical use? What's the end game? I won't condemn u either way at this point".
Legalize Utah recognizing Carl Wimmer as the 3rd Utah politician to not have an initial stereotypical reaction, but rather admit he is not an expect on the subject and is willing to consider the possibility of legalizing the herbal medicine of choice of thousands of severely ill Utah citizens.
Representative Wimmer was sent the following message from Legalize Utah:

While responses such as Representative Wimmer, U.S. Senate candidate Cherilyn Eagar and Representative David Litvack may be surprising to most, Legalize Utah is happy to acknowledge, respect endorse and volunteer for all Utah lawmakers (current and hopeful) who support the medical marijuana movement.
By contacting each Utah lawmaker in a respectful tone and using scientific evidence as well as personal testimonials and surveys, Legalize Utah will continue to assist the movement in Utah to allow chronic and severely ill patients the right to access, grow, possess and use their own, responsible choice of herbal medication rather than having to result to man-made, synthetic prescription drugs which do have the possibility for abuse, overdose or even death.
Some medical marijuana patients have even had to go the extent of undergoing ECT (Electroconvulsive or "shock" therapy) which common side effects can include severe memory loss, problems with expression, including lack of word finding ability, reading and typing abilities.
By allowing patients with severe, chronic diseases safe access to their choice of herbal remedy, Utah lawmakers would be exhibit compassion, creating "green" jobs, earning much needed revenue for the state budget and not having to pay to house medical marijuana patients as criminals.
Reduction in the revenue required to incarcerate Utah citizens merely for possessing or using medical marijuana would save enough money to pay for law enforcement to prosecute the actual criminals who use harmful substances such as ******, *************** and *******, There has never been a documented death anywhere in the world due to a cannabis overdose.
Legalize Utah is thrilled with the positive reaction and will continue to elicit Utah politicians' personal opinion about medical marijuana through weekly messages and education in a responsible and respectful manner, as suggested by Utah state government.
