The owner of a San Diego medical marijuana dispensary who had agreed to close down the shop will perform six days of work service in a county program after he reopened the outlet, violating a court order.
The San Diego City Attorney's Office said that Gregory Schultz was the owner of GSC Wellness on Palm Avenue. In February he agreed to a permanent injunction calling for the dispensary to be shut down by March 1.
Instead, he had reopened the dispensary by March 12 at the same location, according to the City Attorney's Office and court records. The city prosecutors filed an 88-count complaint detailing violations of the injunction against him.
Schultz and the city entered into a stipulation last week calling for the six days of work service, as well as three years of probation. Schultz will also have to pay $11,360 in costs and other penalties.
The stipulation also calls for the business to be shut down. Jonathan Heller, a spokesman for City Attorney Jan Goldsmith, said that the dispensary is now closed.
A message left for Schultz and one for his lawyer were not returned.
The City Attorney's Office has been cracking down on medical marijuana outlets since September. So far, 101 court orders have been issued against the outlets and their landlords, Heller said.
