Educational books are always of interest, and Healing with Cannabis certainly meets those standards. Cheryl Pellerin, a science writer, has released the book to broaden our knowledge of the endocannabinoid system.

She also directs our learning ability to cannabis and its interactive relationship with the endocannabinoid system.

Not too scientific, please...

Pellerin has divided her book into two primary sections. The first is the endocannabinoid system. Although this system has been around for billions of years living within all vertebrates, it was not discovered by scientists until the early 1990s.

The endocannabinoid system is responsible for regulating several essential body functions, including:

*Appetite

*Temperature
*Immune system
*Memory
*Pain
*Sleep

*Female reproductive system

The regulating of these essential body functions helps to maintain homeostasis or balance within the system. Endocannabinoids can activate the ECS that the body naturally creates or the cannabinoids from the cannabis plant when ingested.

Part two
For this portion, Pellerin turned her scientific writing to focus on medical cannabis. To provide the material she needed, she interviewed some of the top international cannabis researchers.

She needed answers to questions that only these researchers could answer, and she wanted to know how and why cannabis is capable of treating:

*Pain

*Multiple sclerosis
*Anxiety
*PTSD

*Side effects of cancer

Pellerin wanted to know what value medical cannabis had in treating those living with these ailments, and Skype quickly became a favorite tool for conducting her research, as she was able to be in contact with cannabinoid researchers within weeks of going forward with her book.

Questions were nonstop in her mind, and the cannabinoid researchers were ready to educate her on the endocannabinoid system's purpose and how it worked in a protective role.

The interviews enabled her to provide educational information. The way the endocannabinoid system works is similar to the way the immune system reacts. An exception to this was inflammation and stroke.

Her initial research for the book only revealed that the endocannabinoid system was nothing more than a body network.

However, as the investigation opened up more information to her, she was compelled to get this information to medical cannabis patients and how better to do that than through her scientific writing and penning a book.

She wanted medical cannabis patients to understand that cannabis is safer and that it works on more illnesses today than just about any drug sold on the market.

Although it may not strictly fall into the educational books category, this book intends to enlighten and teach about the clinical trials that have been conducted on cannabis and the endocannabinoid system.

As mentioned, it has only been since the 1990's that the endocannabinoid system has been recognized. We are learning how cannabis works and the interaction between the ECS, located throughout the human body.

Final thoughts
Cheryl Pellerin has been writing about science for over 30 years. She has penned books about infectious diseases, climate change, and natural disasters. Her book Healing with Cannabis focuses on the science of medical cannabis and the endocannabinoid system.

Perhaps this is one of those easy to read not too scientific-educational books that will help to provide you with the knowledge you seek about cannabis and the endocannabinoid system-specific healing aspects of the plant.

Sounds like a great read, especially if it breaks the subject matter down to be readable for those of us who aren't scientists. Thanks for sharing!
